In his meeting with Head of Southern Journalists Syndicate… Legal Advisor Jamal Al-Jaabi praises the Syndicate’s role in defending rights and freedoms

The Legal Advisor Jamal Al-Jaabi, on Tuesday, visited the headquarters of the Southern Journalists and Media Members Syndicate in the capital, Aden, to get acquainted on its activities and what it has achieved to promote journalistic rights and freedoms.

During his visit, Al-Jaabi met with the Captain of the Southern Journalists and Media Members Syndicate, Aidroos Abdullah Bahashwan, who reviewed the activities of the Syndicate and its human rights and service role since its establishment with an official legal license from the Ministry of Social Affairs last January.

Captain Bahashwan affirmed that the Syndicate, based on its statute and legal literature, stands with all southern journalists and media members and defends their rights regardless of their affiliations or orientations, pointing to a number of human rights issues that the Syndicate has supported during the past period.

In the meeting that was attended by the Deputy Secretary-General of the Syndicate, Nasr Mubarak Bagharib, Bahashwan touched on the directions of the Syndicate and its plans to implement a number of training and qualification programs for journalists and media members, especially youth and women, as well as its intension to seek facilities and discounts for its members in the areas of transportation, medical, and other services.

For his part, legal advisor Jamal Al-Jaabi praised the efforts made by the leadership of the Syndicate to serve the media community and provide a civil union umbrella to defend journalists and media members, their rights, freedom of opinion and expression, and the practice of the profession without restrictions.

The legal advisor expressed his happiness at visiting the headquarters of the Syndicate and knowing closely about its various activities, which are all in the interest of journalists and media members, and their status and role in society.
