The President of the Southern Transitional Council, Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, held a meeting, via video conference call, with the US Special Envoy to Yemen, Mr. Timothy Lenderking.
During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi explained that the current military operations against the Houthi militias in Shabwa and Marib are a natural result of curbing the persistence of the Houthi militia, which is only interested in terrorism, killing and spreading chaos, stressing that the Southern Transitional Council and the southern forces have gone to defend the South and annihilate all challenges and dangers that threaten the South, its security and stability, and that target regional and international interests in the South and the maritime waters.
During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi stressed that confronting the Houthi militia requires unifying the international stance against it, classifying it in the list of terrorist organizations, and rearranging the ranks of the anti-Houthi forces.
For his part, US envoy, Mr. Timothy Lenderking confirmed that the issue of reclassifying the Houthis to the list of terrorist organizations is under consideration and that the decision has not been taken so far, stressing their support for the efforts of the United Nations through its special envoy to reach a comprehensive political settlement of the conflict.
The meeting was attended by Amr Al-Bidh, member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, and Anis Al-Sharafi, Head of the Political Affairs and Planning section at the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs, and Nabil Bin Laasm, Head of the Coordination and Communication section at the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs.
