Lamlas and Ali Discuss Humanitarian and Service Files of Aden and Southern Governorates

[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Aden – Exclusive[/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″][su_dropcap]A[/su_dropcap]hmed Hamed Lamlas, secretary general of STC, met Mr. Marwan Ezzat Ali, director of office and Political Consultant of UN delegate to Yemen, Mr. Martin Griffith, at the STC General Secretariat Headquarters in Aden.
Lamlas welcomed Ali and appreciated his visit to the council indicating that regular meetings and coordination between STC and UN organizations are very significant for UN role in improving political and humanitarian conditions of the southern people who are severely affected by war.
The meeting discussed several issues of concern including the expected visit of UN assistant Secretary General for security and peace to Aden, recent developments of Jeddah talks, packed by Saudi Arabia and UN efforts to push the political process and humanitarian conditions in the south forward in addition to STC efforts in resolving many services problems resulting from using the services file for political reasons by Maeen Abd Al-Malek cabinet.
The meeting also discussed all problems faced by citizens in Aden and other southern governorates due to administrative and monetary corruption of the cabinet including fuel of electric power stations and halting work in passports and migration department that increased the suffering of injured and sick persons who are trying to travel abroad for treatment. Lamlas considered such acts as hostile and violations for all human rights and international laws and conventions.
Lamlas also indicated that STC is assuming responsibility towards resolving humanitarian crises under these poor conditions including intentional halting of most services by the cabinet. In addition, he also indicated that STC is trying to resolve the problem of salary payments of military and security personnel.
Mr. Marwan Ali expressed his comfort for STC efforts, especially in the humanitarian file, indicating that such efforts contribute to UN efforts to resolve the political crisis and end the war that caused this difficult humanitarian condition in Yemen. He also indicated that he is very keen on continuing communication with STC to coordinate efforts in all fields.
Lofty Shatara, member of STC presidency attended the meeting. In addition, Hadeel Samir, Yaseen Altaf, Aziz Salim and Edgardo Garcia, of UN delegate’s office in Aden, attended the meeting.
