Lamlas calls for a regional conference to address refugee crisis

The Governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, discussed, during his meeting with the European Union Ambassador Gabriel Monuera, and the ambassadors of France Jean-Marie Safa, and of Germany Herbert Jaeger, and of Switzerland Thomas Oertel, on Tuesday, ways to strengthen and develop mutual relations.
In the meeting which was held at the governorate office in the Capital Aden, in the presence of Aden’s Undersecretary for Development Affairs, Eng. Adnan Al-Kaf, Lamlas stressed the importance of European support in various economic and humanitarian aspects.
Lamlas said that the task of the local authority is to secure, build and develop Aden and receive embassies from various countries, revealing the continuation of work to strengthen the security aspects and develop them through many training and qualification courses for the police and security sector, in addition to establishing security and stability.
The Governor of Aden the capital, pointed out that the strategic projects related to electricity, water and sanitation are linked to the government, explaining that Aden authority continues to develop and grow revenues and raise the administrative level and reforms.
Lamlas looked forward to more European support and employing it for sustainable projects and improving vital services, pointing to preparations for the opening of Aden General Hospital, with the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to receive patients for free, in addition to the UAE’s support for infrastructure projects in the water sector.
He called for the launch of a regional conference to address illegal immigration issues that would include the concerned countries, with the participation of Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti and Saudi Arabia.
The European diplomats expressed their support for the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the local authorities to overcome difficulties and challenges, stressing their readiness to support efforts to develop administration, activate developmental aspects and encourage investment.
