SMA NEWS – Aden The Capital
The Governor of the capital Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, met on Monday, with Mr. Laurent Boukera, Country Director of the United Nations “World Food Program”, in which the two sides discussed a number of issues related to the program’s activities and interventions in the capital Aden for the current year 2021.
The governor Lamlas expressed his happiness with “this meeting, which comes within the framework of communication and coordination between the local authority in Aden the capital and international organizations, since the local authority will not allow the work of any organization without prior coordination with it.”
During the meeting, the governor pointed out to “the need to tighten control over the foodstuffs provided to citizens in terms of quality and type, and not to allow previous mistakes to be repeated.”
In turn, Mr. Boukera expressed his “deep regret at the errors that occurred with regard to the quality of some of the materials that were recently distributed, indicating that“ the distribution process has been stopped immediately, and an investigation has been opened.
Mr. Boukera emphasized that “The program has other projects and interventions, which will continue to be implemented, and nothing will and will not affect the activities of the program”, stressing that the program relationship with the local authority in Aden and the community of Aden is good, and we will always work to develop them,”.
Lamlas and Boukera discussed the mechanism for distributing cash aid, and the possibility of distributing it through post offices because of its human and technical capabilities and its presence in all districts of the capital, as well as the program’s support for charitable furnaces with flour as it provides loaf and bread to the poor for free, as the country director promised to study these two proposals.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Mutinta Shimoka, Director of the Program Office in Aden, and Intisar Morshed, Director General of the Office of Planning and International Cooperation, and Fahad Al-Khalifi, Coordinator of Organizations Affairs at the Governor’s Office of the Capital Aden.
