Lamlas discusses with leadership of Aden Electricity problems of electricity sector and ways to improve service

The governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, chaired, on Sunday, in his office in the governorate’s general office, in Aden the capital, a meeting led by the General Electricity Corporation in the capital.
At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by the Undersecretary of Aden Governorate for Development Affairs, Eng. Adnan Al-Kaf, Governor Lamlas welcomed the leadership of the Electricity Corporation, praising its efforts to improve service performance, and urging them at the same time to make more efforts to advance this important sector.
During the meeting, which included directors of regions and stations and a number of technicians, Governor Lamlas stressed the importance of collecting local revenues for the consumption of electric power and educating citizens about the need to rationalize the use of electricity, and combating double and random connection, and assigning a security team to accompany the campaign to combat and remove slums and double connectivity, for what would serve the public interest and ensuring the continuity and permanence of the service.
Lamlas assured the support of the leadership of the local authority within the limits of the available capabilities, to overcome any difficulties facing the electricity sector and to rescue it from its current miserable situation.
The meeting touched on a number of problems and difficulties facing the administration of Aden Electricity, the most prominent obstacles that limit the continuity of the operation of the electric power and cause increase in the hours of electric power cut off, and the negative repercussions of this on the daily life of the citizens.
The meeting also discussed the issue of the imminent expiry of the purchased energy contracts and the necessity of taking the notes of Aden Corporation before renewing contracts with leased companies.
For his part, the Director General of Aden Electricity, Mr. Salem Al-Walidy, valued the support of the local authority leadership in the capital, represented by Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, for bearing the responsibility of following up on providing the requirements for the continuation of the electricity service, including fuel, and providing the capabilities for maintenance work, oils and spare parts for Aden power stations.
The meeting came out with a number of decisions, the most prominent of which is implementing a campaign to treat waste by removing random and double connections, and following up on the payment of consumption by cutting off the electric power from the defaulters of government institutions and large consumers, and coordinating with the local authorities on this.
The meeting also stressed the need to take measures against those who restore the electric power after it was cut off by the institution in illegal ways, and assigning the directors of regions and stations to prepare technical scenarios for the maintenance and development of generating stations, and to raise proposals for possible solutions and treatments to the difficulties of the current situation.
