SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
Building Foundation for Development launched on Wednesday, in the capital Aden, the Partnership (Musharaka) Dialogue Platform between the three sectors of development (government sector, private sector, and civil society organizations), within the project to enhance civil space for comprehensive development, with the support of the European Union, and in partnership with CARE International, and SOS Development Foundations.
At the launching ceremony, the Advisor to the Governor of Aden Governorate for Humanitarian Affairs, Reda Hajeb, considered the launch of the platform a “huge step” to localize humanitarian work, after the platform members were carefully selected, through the efforts of the Ministries of Planning and Social Affairs.
Hajeb stressed the need to focus on the roots of development work and the depth of humanitarian work represented in society, and the governance of community work to send a message to donors about our ability to implement the localization policy and enable local organizations to work on development.
The advisor to the governor of Aden the capital said that the participation platform is a dialogue space that brings together the three sectors into one entity, which helps empower institutions in development work, noting that the past years have witnessed the disbursement of billions of dollars without people benefiting from them.
He added: For these reasons, in addition to the scarcity of donor funding as a result of the international crises sweeping the world, we must prepare ourselves to undertake the humanitarian work process and empower our institutions to manage development affairs, calling on the platform’s representatives to participate effectively in this aspect.
For his part, the Director General of the Social Affairs and Labor Office in Aden the capital, Dr. Mohammed Hamoud, called for heading towards the right path and towards development through the solidarity of the three sectors, which benefits the people, thanking Building Foundation for Development and everyone who contributed to the success of the launch of the platform.
The representative of CARE International Organization, Mazen Mohammed Awad, said that the platform is a unique project, which includes the three sectors, and the implementation of local institutions, each of which took on specific tasks, and we carried out a precise and effective selection process with them, stressing that the indicators of this scrutiny and effectiveness will appear in reality and will have a great impact.
The director of the project to enhance civil space for comprehensive development, Samiha Fadel, presented a visual presentation that included the stages of establishing the platform, the three sectors that make it up, in addition to the platform’s objectives, vision, mission, and areas of work.
For its part, the private sector, through the speech of the Deputy Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden the capital, Eng. Ashraf Khanbari, stressed the keenness to support and encourage such projects that enhance the partnership between the three sectors, in a way that achieves integration between them to advance the country and achieve comprehensive development.
