The meeting agreed on holding a major even to celebrate the 51st anniversary of November 30th (Independence Day), on Thursday November 29th, 2018 due to the significance of this memory to the southern history. The event came under difficult conditions in the south to send a message inside and outside the south that the public will and southern expectations for independence and restoring the southern sovereign state on the borders of 1990 are the goals of the southern people.
Several commissions including preparation and media commissions were formed to prepare for the event. The meeting also discussed the acts targeting to harm the southern national project and overcome national principles and public will. The meeting issued the following statement:
Local leadership of the southern transitional council of Shabwa is fully aware of the outcomes of the meeting of southern resistance and injured and martyrs’ families, held in Ataq on November 17th, 2018. The meeting established noble principles and true political and ethical commitments that evoke national responsibility to achieve our desired goals and protect them in expression of loyalty to the major sacrifices of our people. Therefore, Local leadership of the southern transitional council of Shabwa asserts the following:
• We have a concrete attitude with the right of our southern people to achieve our rightful expectations in gaining national independence with full support of the statement of the southern resistance and martyrs’ families.
• We renew our loyalty to Shabwa martyrs, and all martyrs of the south. We also warn against any acts that serve certain agendas that minimize their sacrifices and provoke the feelings of their families and brothers of arms.
• We call for all southern resistance heroes and free men of Shabwa to be more alert to protect our rightful gains.
• We assert that the Statement of October 3rd, issued by the Southern Transitional Council, is road map that can never be abandoned.
