Major General Al-Shuaibi chairs important meeting with managers of exchange companies and establishments in the capital, Aden

The Director-General of the Aden Capital Police, Major General Mutahhar Al-Shuaibi, held an important meeting on Thursday, in the Security Administration Hall in Khormaksar District, which included all managers of exchange companies operating in the capital.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance security cooperation between the banking sector and security forces to confront the escalating crimes committed by gangs specializing in money laundering and smuggling local currency, in light of the rapid collapse of its value against foreign currencies.

At the beginning of the meeting, Major General Al-Shuaibi welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the critical nature of the current situation, which requires everyone to demonstrate a sense of full responsibility. He emphasized the need to maintain stable exchange rates and avoid currency manipulation during buying and selling, in order to serve the public interest and ease the burden on citizens.

The Security Director also emphasized the importance of strict adherence to anti-money laundering requirements and controlling foreign currency transfers in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. He noted that this commitment protects the exchange sector and the country from the negative effects resulting from any negligence or non-compliance.

Major General Al-Shuaibi added the need for integrated coordination between exchange companies and Aden’s security services to combat crimes perpetrated by professional criminal networks targeting money laundering and smuggling abroad, with the aim of undermining the security and stability of the capital.

The meeting also addressed the advanced fraudulent methods used by online and social media fraudsters, and the efforts needed to counter these threats and protect citizens from falling victim to these operations.

For their part, the attendees expressed their gratitude to Major General Al-Shuaibi for this initiative, affirming their commitment to the directives and enhancing joint coordination in accordance with established mechanisms. This will contribute to addressing numerous problems and challenges, most notably exchange rate fluctuations and their impact on citizens’ livelihoods.
