Major General Bin Brik meets with leadership of Fisheries Cooperative Union for Fishermen of the South

The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council, Major General Ahmed Saeed Bin Brik, on Monday, at the Assembly’s headquarters , met with the Administrative Authority of the Fisheries Cooperative Union for the Fishermen of the South, headed by the Union’s President, Mr. Omar Salem Qambit, the member of the National Assembly.

At the beginning of the meeting, Major General Bin Brik welcomed the attendees, and listened from Omar Qambit to a brief explanation of the activity and work of the Fisheries Cooperative Union.

The meeting discussed a number of issues related to the union and ways to develop solutions and treatments for some of the problems that the union suffers from as a result of some imbalances, and to correct its course so that the union can carry out its work in safe and peaceful conditions, and its entrusted duty as required.

Major General Bin Brik stressed that the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council, represented by President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the President of the council, pays great attention to this aspect due to its economic and social importance, as it is a strong economic resource to the South.

Major General Bin Brik also stressed the need to organize the fishing process and afford priority to the authority in arranging and exporting fish, and to provide all the needs of fish to the local market to be available to all citizens.

The Chairman of the National Assembly pointed out that the economy of the South in the past depended on fishing, which contributed to building a number of fish facilities to invest in this important sector.

Major General Ahmed Bin Brik stressed the importance of focusing on the youth category and attracting them to work in this profession, in order to reduce the widespread unemployment, and to achieve the maximum benefit from this sector.

At the end of the meeting, the attendees stressed the need to stop the process of unauthorized seizing on coastal lands, as well as to prevent unauthorized fishing in well-known fishing areas.
