Major General bin Brik praises the role of Red Cross mission in the governorates of the South

The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council, Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, praised the work of the humanitarian mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in its unlimited support throughout the previous period, especially with the spread of the new Corona pandemic, as it provided many humanitarian and medical relief aid in order to alleviate the suffering of citizens in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of the South.
This came during his meeting today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the National Assembly, with the Head of the International Mission of the Red Cross in Aden the capital, Mr. Abdulrahman Ismail Issa, and his Deputy Jovenda Prasad Dahal.
The Chairman of the National Assembly stressed the need to expand the work of the Mission towards the rest of the southern governorates, including the provinces of Lahj and Hadramout, which suffer from a significant outbreak of the new Corona pandemic (Covid-19), noting that their relief role in this aspect is indispensable, in addition to the coordination and cooperation in the field of activating the work of health facilities in Aden the capital, in particular, and in the South in general.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Anis Luqman, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and Dr. Salem Al-Shabhi, Head of the Health and Environment Committee in the National Assembly, in which Major General bin Brik presented an illustrative explanation of the difficult reality of the capital, Aden, as a result of the continuous displacement to it from the Yemeni provinces, which doubled the burdens of the capital and the health system in it, not to mention the influx of refugees from the Horn of Africa.
Major General bin Brik stressed the importance of coordinating efforts, and assistance in communicating with the High Commissioner for Refugees, as there are parties that use them (refugees) as a time bomb (terrorist military uses), to push them into the war against the South.
Major General bin Brik affirmed the keenness of the Southern Transitional Council to provide all assistance and facilities to international humanitarian and relief organizations, and United Nations organizations, to work in the South in all their various fields, especially with regard to the health and relief aspect, praising all that the ICRC mission in Aden the capital, has provided.
For his part, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in the capital, Aden, Mr. Abdul Rahman Issa, thanked Major General bin Brik for the kind reception, expressing his happiness at strengthening cooperation and joint coordination between the leadership of the Transitional Council and the International Mission of the Red Cross in facilitating and overcoming the difficulties facing their humanitarian work, especially with regard to the health aspect, pointing out that there are a number of proposals and plans to expand their work activity to include visits and field trips to the other governorates of the South.
