The Administrative Body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting on Wednesday, headed by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the Assembly, Acting President of the STC.

At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Essam Abdo Ali, Vice Chairman of the Assembly, the body saluted the people of the south on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of Southern Martyr’s Day, renewing the pledge to move forward in the footsteps of the righteous martyrs who sacrificed their lives to achieve freedom and independence, and to follow in their path until liberation from the occupation situation, its effects and tools, and achieving independence, and building the federal southern state, with full sovereignty.

The Administrative Body addressed the latest developments in the political, economic and security situations in the southern governorates, most notably the ongoing peaceful popular demonstrations denouncing the economic and service deterioration, where the Authority renewed its support for the people’s right to demonstrate and protest peacefully, and its rejection of the sharp deterioration in basic services and the collapse of the local currency, and the resulting high cost of living that has burdened citizens.

The Authority warned hostile parties that are trying to exploit the protests and the state of popular anger, with the aim of disrupting the security situation and creating chaos in the capital, Aden, and the rest of the southern governorates, praising in the same context the sophisticated and responsible handling shown by the southern security forces with the peaceful protests, which reflected their commitment to maintaining security and stability and respecting the right to peaceful expression.

The Administrative Body held the government and the Presidential Leadership Council responsible for the unprecedented deterioration of economic and service conditions, which exacerbated the suffering of citizens, stressing that it is time to find radical solutions to the current crisis, foremost of which is ensuring the transfer of revenues from all governorates to the Central Bank in the capital, Aden, and benefiting from them in developing and improving services in the southern governorates and the rest of the liberated areas.

In another context, the Administrative Body listened to a report that included a comprehensive vision on how to deal with receiving international and UN organizations in the south if their main offices move to the capital, Aden, and the urgent measures to implement this, as the Body supported everything that was stated in the report, stressing in the same context its rejection of any attempts to settle the displaced in the south with the aim of changing the demographic composition and harming the southern identity.

At the end of its meeting, the Body addressed the rest of the topics included in its agenda, and reviewed and approved the minutes of its previous meeting.
