NSMA Head Highlights Role of International Media to Clarify Terrorist Nature of the Houthi Militia
SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), and official Spokesman of the STC, met today, Monda, in his office at the headquarters of NSMA with Mr. Johann Matthias Sumartsorn from the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation, who is visiting the capital, Aden, on a media mission.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe’y, deputy head of NSMA, Mr. Al-Awlaqi welcomed Mr. Somartsorn and shed light on the humanitarian, service, and health conditions in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of the South, indicating that NSMA is interested in facilitating the tasks of visiting media delegations and fostering partnerships with international media institutions.
Regarding the Houthi ongoing threats to international navigation, Al-Awlaqi reiterated the STC’s early warnings on the danger of this terrorist militia, not only at the local level but also to the region and the world, and this is embodied by the Houthi piracy acts in the Red Sea.
Al-Awlaqi emphasized the importance of the Western media’s role in correcting the false narratives that have been propagated about the Houthis over the past years, portraying them as an oppressed minority, and revealing the criminal and bloody acts carried out by this group against civilians, disruption of economic interests, exacerbation of humanitarian suffering, and targeting of international navigation.
Al-Awlaqi also noted the Houthis’ liaison with terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda, providing them with unmanned arial drones and weapons, explaining that this Iranian-sponsored liaison aims to undermine security, stability, and control of this vital region of the world.
For his part, Mr. Sumartsorn expressed his thanks for the warm reception and facilities provided by NSMA to perform his media mission, affirming that he would convey all the ideas discussed during the meeting.
