NSMA Head Meets with Swedish Media Delegation

SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL

Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and the official spokesman of the STC, received on Thursday in his office in the capital, Aden, the Swedish media delegation from TV4 News, including journalist Sofia Therese Kristanson and photographer Vincent Daniel Zdolsek.

At the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe’y, Deputy Head of NSMA, Mr. Al-Awlaqi welcomed the visiting Swedish media delegation, affirming that Aden welcomes the international delegations, institutions, and organizations in the capital, as well as visits by international media delegations to cover current events and follow humanitarian conditions.

Mr. Al-Awlaqi pointed to the importance of the role of international media in highlighting the political, economic, and field conditions in the country, exposing the extent of the violations, destruction, and devastation caused by the Houthi militias as a terrorist group that does not believe in peace and threatens security, stability, and international interests.

Al-Awlaqi added that the actions in the Red Sea and the acts of terrorist piracy against international maritime navigation carried out by these militias have harmed citizens’ food security through their disastrous economic repercussions that have exacerbated the humanitarian, living, and service crises that the country is experiencing.

He highlighted that the prevailing conditions in the country, the Houthi piracy in the Red Sea, and the current situation in the region do not encourage a political settlement with the Houthis and would constitute a reward for their terrorist acts, all of which do not serve peace efforts.

In turn, the Swedish media delegation expressed their deep thanks for the facilities provided by NSMA and for the topics raised in the meeting on the political, economic, and humanitarian situation in the South.
