NSMA Renews the STC’s Position on Supporting Government Reforms and Combating Corruption

The National Southern Media Authority (NSMA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting today, Thursday, chaired by Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of NSMA and the official spokesman of the STC.

In the beginning of the meeting, which was devoted to discussing the latest developments in the South and the region, NSMA stressed the importance of translating the directives of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), with the support of the new Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, in a way that serves the interests of citizens of the South, pointing to the orientations of the media discourse towards supporting government in the process of economic reforms, rationalizing government expenditures, and combating corruption.

At the same time, NSMA highlighted that working to correct government imbalances, provide public services, improve the standard of living of citizens, and combat corruption must constitute a top priority for the PLC and the government and a common interest for the political parties.

Furthermore, NSMA discussed providing media administrations in the STC, media centers, and active media institutions with whatever contributes to raising political and media awareness regarding current events and developments in the South, explaining that NSMA will work to prepare a field trip program for its members in coordination with the General Secretariat of the STC in this regard.

At the end of its meeting, NSMA touched on a range of topics and issues related to the internal and external southern media discourse to keep pace with the events at this stage and took a number of decisions and recommendations in this regard.
