NSMA’s Head Meets with Number of Media Members and Professionals

Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), met today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of NSMA in the capital Aden, with a number of members and professionals of the press and media.
During the meeting which was attended by Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe’y, deputy head of NSMA, a range of media issues were reviewed in light of current developments in the South.
In the opening speech, Mr. Al-Awlaqi stressed the importance of sound media discourse to face the challenges posed by reality in the South, highlighting the importance of searching for commonalities that bring southerners closer to achieving the ultimate goal of the aspirations of the people of the South.
Al-Awlaqi called on all press pens and various forms of media to be guided by the results of the Southern Consultative Meeting and its outcomes in the Southern National Charter, noting that the upcoming stage requires strengthening the home front, creating a state of consensus, and rejecting hate speech in all its forms.
Al-Awlaqi indicated that NSMA pursues its tireless efforts to open the door for direct meetings with various southern media actors and institutions in order to formulate a mature and well-balanced southern media discourse that contributes to creating political and societal awareness and leads to fulfilling the benefits and facing the challenges of the South.
Furthermore, the discussions focused on the need to establish a relevant mechanism for communication to reach the formulation of a media discourse that contributes to raising awareness among people and society about crucial issues of concern to citizens in light of the current circumstances and adopting citizens’ public services and daily living issues.
They also shed light on the overall political, security, and military situation and the task of the southern media to face the upcoming political challenges and the suffering of citizens due to the war of services that citizens suffer from in the capital Aden and the various governorates of the South.
