SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL

The Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held a meeting today, Monday, headed by President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the President of the Council.

The meeting started with a minute of standing to recite Al-Fatiha on the souls of the martyrs of the terrorist bombing that targeted the outer gate of Aden International Airport on Saturday evening.

In the meeting, the Presidency stood before the developments of the political, economic and military conditions in the governorates of the South.

The meeting reviewed a report submitted by the Decision Making Support Center, which highlighted the most prominent political developments related to the South and its cause.

The Presidency of the Council also listened to a report submitted by the Economic Department in the General Secretariat on the economic situation in the capital, Aden, and other governorates of the South, in which the report included an explanation about the overall reasons for the deterioration of economic conditions, and the measures taken by the power-sharing government in the framework of its efforts to stop the economic collapse.

In the context, the Presidency of the Council renewed its call on the government to take serious measures to address the economic situation, foremost among which is obligating the governorates to supply all revenues to the Central Bank, and to stop the process of smuggling of hard currency, stressing that the recent measures taken by the government and the administration of the Central Bank to stop the deterioration of the exchange rate, represented by shutting down the work of a number of exchange companies will not limit the deterioration of the currency exchange rate, unless thoughtful economic solutions are put in place, including obligating the governorates to supply their revenues to the Central Bank, and reforming the financial and monetary policies of the same bank.

In its meeting, the Presidency also stood before the developments in the security situation in the capital, Aden, following the terrorist bombing in the vicinity of Aden International Airport, which lead to a number of martyrs and wounded, stressing that the war of booby-traps has become the last weapon of the dark forces in their desperate attempts to overthrow the capital, Aden and the South, after the failure of its military conquests and war of services to achieve its criminal goals, offering its condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs who fell in that terrorist attack, and praying to the Almighty Allah to grant the wounded a speedy recovery.

In this regard, the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, governor of the capital, Aden, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, stressed, in his intervention on the crime, that the Supreme Security Committee will spare no effort to control the security situation in the capital, pointing out that the committee has taken a number of measures to coordinate the work of the security units, which would thwart all terrorist plans aimed at destabilizing security and stability in the capital.

The meeting dealt with the latest developments in Shabwa Governorate, in which the Presidency renewed its rejection and denunciation of all provocative attempts carried out by the Brotherhood militias in the governorate, the latest of which was the attack on Al-Alam camp, in a clear violation of the Riyadh Agreement, stressing that the Council will not stand idly by regarding these reckless actions, and will respond to them in right time.
