Presidency of STC stresses need of government’s seriousness to uproot sources of corruption in oil sector and move companies’ headquarters to Aden the capital

The Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting on Tuesday, headed by Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of STC, Minister of State, Governor of the capital, Aden.
In the meeting, the Presidency of STC listened to a report submitted by the Supreme Economic Committee of the Council, regarding developments in economic conditions on the national scene, calling in this context on the government of power-sharing to work hard to uproot sources of corruption, and to preserve oil wealth, and ownership of governmental companies in this sector, and expedite the transfer of all its headquarters to Aden the capital.
The Presidency of STC also stood before corruption in scholarships and external grants at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research during the past years, and the popular reaction occurred represented in the closure of the ministry headquarter.
The Presidency affirmed its rejection of all illegal reactions, and at the same time denounced the government’s failure to take any measures to hold the corrupt and those responsible for such actions that lead for the occurrence of those acts, stressing the need to deal seriously with holding the corrupt accountable in the ministry and other facilities to avoid reactions resulting from the inaction of the leadership of the government to hold perpetrators accountable.
The STC’s Presidency called on leadership of the government to oblige the Minister of Interior to carry out his work at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Aden, and to reconsider his issuance of permits for security companies based in Sana’a to work from the capital, Aden, in light of the decisions issued by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to transfer the headquarters of all companies and agencies to the capital, Aden, in order to deal with them.
The Presidency discussed also a report from the Decision Making Support Center on developments in the general situation, foremost of which is the situation in Halmeen district in Lahj governorate, and in this regard it approved the formation of a committee to investigate the circumstances of the events that the district recently witnessed, and called on those concerned to calm down and quickly complete the committee’s tasks and take legal measures in light of the results that will be concluded by it.
In its meeting, the Presidency of STC discussed the main directions of the Council’s work plan for the year 2023, in addition to a number of issues related to the work of the Council’s bodies, and took the necessary measures in this regard.
