SMA NEWS – NEW YORK
The President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi joined the opening event of the annual Future Summit on Sunday, which launched its work today at the UN headquarters in New York City. The two-day summit is expected to adopt three key agreements, led by the Future Charter.

The summit will bring together heads of countries and governments, representatives of civil society, the private sector, and youth. Keynotes will be delivered by the President of the General Assembly, the UN Secretary-General, and youth representatives, leading to the adoption of a Future Charter.

The summit’s focus is on five key tracks: sustainable development and financing, peace and security, a digital future for all, youth and future generations, global governance, and cross-cutting issues such as human rights, gender equality, and the climate crisis.

The final draft of the proposed Future Charter stipulates that member states shall undertake 56 commitments across a range of areas, including sustainable development and development finance, international peace and security, science, technology, innovation, and digital cooperation, youth and future generations, and a transformation of global governance.
