President Al-Zubaidi discusses peace tracks with delegation of Berghof Foundation

The President of the Southern Transitional Council, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, received on Saturday, in his office in the capital, Aden, delegation of the Berghof Foundation from Germany headed by Mr. Oliver Wells, Director of the Middle East and North African Affairs Department, and Dalia Barsoum, Head of Yemen Unit in the foundation.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi welcomed the delegation of the German foundation, praising the efforts made by it to promote peace opportunities and bring views closer, expressing his hope that the foundation will play a greater role in supporting the choices of the people of the South in determining their destiny.
In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi reiterated the position of the Southern Transitional Council in support of the political process led by the envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, stressing the importance of the Southern Transitional Council’s participation in designing the political process that leads to a comprehensive and sustainable peace in the region.
For his part, the director of the Middle East and North Africa Affairs Department in the foundation expressed his happiness at meeting President Al-Zubaidi, stressing that the visit of the foundation delegation to the capital, Aden, comes within the framework of the organization’s quest to understand the viewpoint of the Southern Transitional Council to advance peace paths to end the crisis in Yemen, and the ways in which the foundation can through support the Council and the rest of the parties to reach common understandings leading to lasting peace.
Mr. Wells expressed the readiness of Berghof foundation to adopt more meetings to bring the views closer and open serious dialogues in line with the facts on the ground.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Ali Saif Hassan, Head of the Political Development Forum, Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, Head of Political Affairs and Planning in the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs of the Southern Transitional Council, and Imad Mohammed, Director of the Office of the Deputy-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council.
