President Al-Zubaidi Discusses with British Ambassador Int’l Endeavours to Extend UN Truce

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Deputy head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Thursday, received Mr. Richard Oppenheim, the United Kingdom Ambassador to Yemen and his assistant.
The meeting reviewed the latest political and economic developments in the liberated governorates, and the efforts of the PLC and the government to stabilize the situation, maintain security and stability, revive the economic situation and improve public service.
During the meeting, they discussed the regional and international endeavours to extend the UN-mediated truce. In this respect, President Al-Zubaidi highlighted that the talks about extending the truce, in light of the arrogance and intransigence of the Houthi militias to abide by their commitments, will entirely remain on paper, calling on the international community to adopt a serious position that forces the militias to implement all their obligations relating to the truce without any delaying-tactics or equivocation.
President Al-Zubaidi affirmed that the PLC has implemented its obligations, and positively dealt with the endeavours of the international community to extend the truce, assured that talking about renewing the truce in light of the militias’ intransigence is virtually useless, and the series of offering opportunities to the peace-declining militias, at the expense of the people, should be no longer acceptable.
Likewise, the meeting shed light on the situation in Shabwa governorate, as President Al-Zubaidi reaffirmed the commitment of the PLC to support the local authority, led by Governor Sheikh Awad Al-Awlaqi, to normalize life and consolidate security and stability in the governorate.
The meeting, too, touched on the recent developments in Abyan, after the great victories being achieved by the military operation “Arrows of the East” in defeating the elements of terrorist organizations from most areas of the governorate.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, director of the General Directorate for Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the STC and head of the Consultation and Reconciliation committee of the PLC, Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe’y, deputy head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), Mr. Mansour Zaid Haidra, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (PIC) in the power-sharing government and Mr. Imad Mohammed, office director of the deputy head of the PLC.
