President Al-Zubaidi Gets Briefed on UN Efforts for Sustainable Solutions to Displacement

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received today, Saturday, at his office in the capital, Aden, the Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Mr. Saeed Hersi.

President Al-Zubaidi listened from Mr. Hirsi to a number of projects implemented by United Nations organizations in the humanitarian, relief, and development fields and the challenges facing the humanitarian teams to reduce the burden of the needy.

During the meeting, they also discussed the problem of internal displacement and the burdens it entails on services in the capital, Aden, and other governorates, as well as the efforts exerted by UN organizations to provide sustainable solutions to this problem, foremost of which is encouraging voluntary return to safe areas in coordination with relevant organizations and authorities.

The President lauded the great efforts made by international organizations to alleviate human suffering in our country, stressing the importance of doubling and diversifying their interventions during the next stage and working to create an effective partnership with the public and private sectors to serve the local community.

The President asserted the readiness of the STC and the PLC to provide all facilities to the United Nations humanitarian teams and to overcome any difficulties that may hinder their workflow to ensure that they effectively accomplish their tasks.

For his part, Mr. Hirsi expressed his thanks for the efforts of the STC and PLC and their keenness to create appropriate conditions for the UN teams to work comfortably, indicating that there is a tendency among donors during the upcoming period to promote the field of development and boost the work of ministries to ensure the effectiveness of sustainable projects.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Emad Mohammed, Office Head of the Vice President of the PLC.
