President Al-Zubaidi meets Acting Ambassador of Canada to Riyadh and Non-Resident Ambassador to Yemen stressing that dialogue is the right way to restore security and stability to the region

The President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, President Aidaroos Qassem Al-Zubaidi, met on Wednesday in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, the Acting Ambassador of the State of Canada to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the non-resident ambassador to Yemen, Ms. Gwyneth Kotz, and her accompanying delegation,
In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi renewed the support of the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council and the Presidential Leadership Council for all efforts aimed at ending the war in our country, bringing peace, and restoring security and stability to the region through constructive dialogue aimed at finding real solutions to the central issues of the conflict, foremost of which is the issue of the people of the South and their right to restore their independent and fully sovereign state.
President Al-Zubaidi discussed with Ms. Gwyneth the developments of the ongoing political process to end the war in our country, and the regional and international efforts to launch a comprehensive political process that establishes sustainable peace in the region.
President Al-Zubaidi affirmed that the Presidential Leadership Council made many concessions in order to make the efforts led by the envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to succeed in launching a comprehensive political process in Yemen that addresses all the pivotal issues, indicating that the issue of the people of the South will be present in it through a framework of its own within the negotiation team of the Presidential Leadership Council.
In a separate context, the meeting discussed ways and mechanisms to enhance the humanitarian support provided by the Canadian government to our country, where President Al-Zubaidi noted the importance of the role that the Canadian government can play in supporting and strengthening the role of women and youths by providing assistance in the field of training and rehabilitation to enable them for active
participation in rebuilding state institutions, as well as supporting the Canadian government to the government of power-sharing in its efforts to deal with the influx of thousands of refugees from the Horn of Africa to our country.
For her part, the Acting Canadian Ambassador to Riyadh affirmed the position of her country’s government in support of efforts to end the war and restore security and stability to Yemen, expressing the Canadian government’s keenness to provide humanitarian support to alleviate the suffering of our people due to the war.
The meeting was attended by Emad Mohammed, Director of the Office of the Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Saleh Al-Qaiti, Advisor to the Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and from the Canadian side, Douglas Makwari, First Secretary for Political and Economic Affairs at the embassy, and Dan Barber, Advisor for Political and Economic Affairs at the embassy.
