President Al-Zubaidi Participates in Meetings of PLC Delegation on Sidelines of UNGA79

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), has engaged in a series of meetings the PLC delegation has been holding with heads of delegations and representatives of countries participating in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79), whose high-level plenary sessions will open tomorrow, Tuesday.
The meetings, in which President Al-Zubaidi engaged on Monday, included the Kuwait Crown Prince, HH Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah, and the Prime Minister of the brotherly Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre.
During the two meetings, the fraternal relations with the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Somalia were reviewed, as well as ways and mechanisms to coordinate common positions, the role of our official brothers in Arab countries in assisting the PLC in normalizing life and maintaining security and stability in the country, in light of the ongoing conflict and the worsening humanitarian situation resulting from the continued Houthi escalation both on land and sea, and its repercussions on the service conditions in the country. In addition to the required regional and international support for the economic reforms at this critical stage in the country’s history.
The PLC delegation expressed deep gratitude for the fraternal stances of our brotherly Arab countries in supporting our people during these challenging times of war, lauding the efforts that have been exerted to mobilize regional and international support aimed at durably ending the conflict and bringing about a just and sustainable peace in the war-torn country.
President Al-Zubaidi also engaged at the meeting that brought together the PLC delegation with UNDP administrator, Mr. Achim Steiner.
The meeting discussed UN development interventions across various sectors and international efforts to secure additional funding for the most sustainable and effective programs to alleviate the suffering of the people as a result of the ongoing war launched by the Houthi terrorist militias.
UN officials reviewed the scope of UN development interventions in the country, which encompassed the sectors of water, electricity, clean energy, education, roads, healthcare, and sustain livelihoods, as well as
challenges of food security, climate change, improving port efficiency, institutional and economic resilience, and inclusive justice.
UN officials have highlighted the readiness of the UNDP’s economic recovery plan for the country, focusing on reviving the cash flow of the coffee and honey production chains, as well as the infrastructure projects funded by the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
