President Al-Zubaidi Receives Chargé d’Affaires of the UK Ambassador

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received at his office in the capital, Aden, today, Monday, H.E. Charles Harper, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Ambassador of the United Kingdom (Britain) to Yemen, and his accompanying delegation.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi warmly welcomed the visit of the Chargé d’Affaires of the British Ambassador and his accompanying delegation to the capital, Aden, reviewing in context the strong historical relations that have existed between our country and the United Kingdom and the people of the South with the friendly British people.
The meeting discussed the internal and external developments in the situation related to the political process and the endeavours being made by the countries of the region and the world to launch a comprehensive political process that would establish a just and sustainable peace in the country and the entire region.
The meeting also discussed other issues in the country, foremost of which is the deteriorating economic situation and the reasons for the government’s inability to carry out its tasks in providing the minimum basic needs for citizens, in addition to certain challenges facing humanitarian and relief organizations operating in the country and possible ways to overcome such challenges.
President Al-Zubaidi expressed his hope that the United Kingdom will play a greater role during the next stage to push for the achievement of the ceasefire and the launch of the comprehensive political process through its important role in managing the Yemeni crisis file, as well as intensifying its relief support towards the development and production sectors and projects that ensure sustainable services for citizens.
For his part, the Chargé d’Affaires of the British Ambassador expressed his happiness at visiting the capital, Aden, and meeting with President Al-Zubaidi, affirming the support of the government of his country for the cohesiveness and interdependence of the PLC and its full commitment to exert maximum efforts to establish peace and whatever would help to achieve peace and stability.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Commission of the STC, Mr. Emad Mohammed, Office Head of the Vice President of the PLC, Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, the deputy director of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDFA), Mr. Muthanna Al-Amiri, Director of the Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Mujahid Abdullah, Assistant Director of the Organizations Department at the Ministry, and from the British side, Mr. Peter Lajask, and military attaché at the embassy.
