President of Self-Administration holds extended meeting with officials in Public Health Office and some hospitals in Aden the capital

Major General Ahmed Saeed Bin Brik, Chairman of the National Assembly, President of the Self-Administration of the South, held on Monday at the National Assembly’s headquarters a meeting with Dr. Ali Abdullah Saleh, Director General of the Office of the Ministry of Health and Population, and a number of directors of the general hospitals in Aden the capital, in the presence of Dr. Salem Al-Shabhi, head of the Supreme Health Committee of Self-Administration, and Dr. Mona Bashrahil, member of the Presidency of the Transitional Council, and supervisor of the activity of the Health Committee.

The meeting discussed the general health situation in the hospitals of Aden the capital, and the difficulties and obstacles facing health work, and ways to develop solutions to raise the level of health and treatment services provided to citizens.

The Head of the Self-Administration stressed on the necessity of solidarity among all the concerned authorities in order to improve the health status in the capital Aden, praising the joint efforts between the self-administration and the Ministry of Health, and the international organizations to improve the level of health status during the past days.

For his part, the Director General of the Health and Population Office in the capital, Aden, thanked Major General Bin Brik for his hosting and good reception of them, and for providing an opportunity for health cadres to present and discuss the problems of their facilities, indicating that the health sector has been suffering for many years from a noticeable deterioration, and after the emergence of the Corona virus pandemic (Covid-19) in the southern governorates, specifically in the capital Aden, this sector has completely collapsed and has become unable to provide its services to the citizens as required, indicating that the urgent need now is to rebuild the medical and nursing staff, as well as to rebuild health systems and facilities in general.
