SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), chaired on Thursday the regularly scheduled meeting of the Senior Executive Leadership (SEL) of the STC.

In the beginning of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi briefed the attendees on the outcomes of his recent visits abroad, which included his participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Switzerland and his meeting with a number of heads of delegations of countries participating in the forum, as well as the results of his discussions with the United Kingdom Foreign Minister, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, the US ambassador, and the Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the humanitarian and economic situation in the governorates of the South, and in this regard, President Al-Zubaidi has given directives to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the local authorities in the governorates to mobilize all available resources to mitigate the repercussions of the economic crisis on citizens with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

President Al-Zubaidi emphasized the importance of the concerned authorities taking on their responsibilities in monitoring local markets, preventing monopolization, controlling and inspecting prices of basic necessities and food items that have become exorbitant, and following up with major importers and commercial houses to provide prices commensurate with the citizens’ income, especially at vibrant exhibitions and Ramadan Tents.

Similarly, the President directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to exert maximum efforts to ensure the food supply and consumer goods provided are not affected by the Houthi escalation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

The meeting touched on the efforts exerted by the Ministries of Electricity, Finance, and Oil to secure fuel for power plants and the measures completed by the Ministry of Electricity to enhance the generating capacity in the capital, Aden, and other governorates in preparation for the coming summer.

At the end of its meeting, the SEL reviewed the remaining topics on its agenda that are directly related to the daily lives of citizens and took the appropriate measures.
