President Zubaidi Discusses with US Ambassador Efforts to Bring Peace to the Region

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Saturday Mr. Steven H. Fagin, Ambassador of the United States of America to Yemen.

The meeting discussed political developments related to the ongoing efforts to bring durable peace and establish a political settlement, the importance of the cohesiveness of the PLC, and support for regional efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive peace process under the auspices of the United Nations.

Furthermore, the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the region, including the situation in the Gaza Strip, where the President affirmed the support of the Palestinian Authority, the two-state solution initiative as per the Arab Peace Initiative first floated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and which was endorsed at the Arab Summit held in Beirut in 2002, support for stability and peace efforts in the region through what was included in the Abraham Accord, and rejecting and condemning any targeting of civilians in any form and by any party.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission (CRC) of the PLC and a member of the STC’s Presidium, and Mr. Imad Mohammed, Director of the Office of the Vice Chairman of the PLC.
