Relief and Humanitarian Works Authority inspects health and living conditions of inmates at Central Prison in the capital, Aden

Ms. Niran Souqi, head of the Relief and Humanitarian Works Authority under the presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, conducted an inspection visit to the Central Prison in the capital, Aden, on Sunday, as part of the Authority’s efforts to monitor the humanitarian conditions in detention centers.
During the visit, Souqi was briefed by Hafez Al-Saadi, Director of the Prison Director’s Office, on the health situation inside the prison. She met with several officials and prison staff and witnessed firsthand the suffering of the prisoners.
During the visit, Souqi emphasized the importance of preserving the health and humanitarian rights of prisoners, noting that the Relief Authority will submit a detailed report to the relevant authorities and will coordinate with local and international organizations to provide urgent support and contribute to improving prison conditions, ensuring human dignity and the protection of fundamental rights.
This visit is part of a series of field activities undertaken by the Authority to consolidate its role in urgent humanitarian intervention in various facilities suffering from neglect or lack of support
