Saleh to Sputnik: Some Powers Hijacked the Legitimacy’s Decisions and Are Using Them to Serve Own Political Agendas in the South
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Agencies – Follow-ups[/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″][su_dropcap]I[/su_dropcap]n a phone interview with Sputnik on Sunday June 24th, 2019, Mansour Saleh, a prominent southern political analyst, indicated that unfortunately, all indicators show that some powers hijacked the decisions of the legitimate authority in Yemen and are using them to serve their own political agendas in the south.
“What we saw of political and military failure against Al-Houthis is synchronized with hostile efforts against the south in a try to control it, especially Aden the capital and other territories rich with natural fortunes like Hadhramaut Valley, Shabwa and Socotra” added Saleh.
He continued saying: “As the legitimate government felt its upcoming end with the international society recognizing it as an obstacle on the road of peace and decisive end of war, in addition to recognizing its lack to a public support in the north and south, the hijacked legitimacy is now increasing tension in the southern governorates to explode them without even a clear reading of what they are doing as a suicidal act that they will be their first victims”.
He also indicated that facts on the ground clearly show deeply rooted political and military powers in the south, represented in the Southern Transitional Council and military and security troops loyal to it that exercise self-control in the face of provocative acts although they can simply retaliate and determine the situation for its interest.
For more than four years now, Yemen is witnessing a fierce war between “Ansar Allah” militias and their allies on one hand and the Yemeni army loyal to the legitimacy, packed by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition, on the other.
