Souqi Meets Former Head of ICRC in Aden the capital

Lawyer Niran Souqi, member of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Deputy Head of the National Assembly, met, today, on Monday, Ms. Beatrix Oxli, former head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), mission in the capital, Aden, and Mr. Buckley, the new head of mission.
At the meeting, lawyer Souqi valued the role of the Red Cross in the governorates of the South and the humanitarian assistance provided by Ms. Beatrix, during her tenure as the head of the mission in the humanitarian field to alleviate the suffering of citizens, as well as the qualifying and training of military groups and familiarizing them with international humanitarian law, further to mediate swapping detainees and recover the bodies in the armed conflicts on the confronting lines, in coordination with the leadership of the STC, which had a major role in facilitating its work within the South.
Lawyer Niran asserted that the STC attaches great importance to the work and role of international organizations in the South, which contribute in improving the situation, affirming the readiness of the leadership of the STC to ease the difficulties encountering the work of the new head of the Red Cross mission and the active organizations in the South.
For her part, Ms. Beatrix, expressed gratitude to lawyer Niran for the good reception and for the cooperation of the leadership of the STC in overcoming the challenges facing the work of the Red Cross in particular and the rest of the organizations in general, affirming that the new head of mission, Mr. Buckley, will do his best for the continuation of providing humanitarian aid, as well as strengthening the relations among all parties on the ground.
To the end of the meeting, lawyer Niran Souqi honoured Ms. Beatrix, on behalf of the Chairman of the Assembly, Major General Ahmed Saeed Ben Brik, with a memorial shield for her humanitarian efforts that she made throughout her stay in the capital, Aden.
