Southern Transitional Foreign Affairs: The issue of the people of the South is fundamental pillar of peace in the region

The General Directorate of Foreign Affairs of the Southern Transitional Council, in its meeting on Tuesday, in the capital, Aden, reviewed the most prominent developments in the southern national, regional and international arena.
The meeting, chaired by Anis Al-Sharafi, Deputy Head of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs, referred to the situation on the border fronts, the southern forces’ response to the terrorist Houthi militia attacks, and the south’s efforts with international partners in combating terrorism.
Al-Sharafi expressed the Council’s keenness on the path of a political solution, stressing that this keenness does not conflict with the military decisiveness necessary to protect civilians in the south, and to confront the continuous escalation of the terrorist Houthi militia.
He referred to the Iranian-backed militia’s aggression against civilian objects and economic facilities, and the threat to international maritime navigation in the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab.
Al-Sharafi said that the position of the Southern Transitional Council regarding there is no peace or stability without recognizing the national cause of the people of the south as a basic pillar for achieving peace in the south, Yemen and the region, calling for a special framework for the cause of the people of the south during the UN peace negotiations.
Al-Sharafi directed foreign affairs offices of the transitional council and representations in the mandate countries to play their role in embodying the voice, demands and aspirations of the people of the South, as an affirmation of full support for them and their national cause.
The meeting also reviewed a briefing from the deputy head of the internal Southern National Dialogue team, Abdel Salam Qasim Massad, on the team’s activities, and the results of meetings with the southern political, social and trade union components and forces.
