The Southern Transitional Council issued the following statement about Sweden Consultations:

The Southern Transitional Council is following responsively the developments of political process, with full efforts based on the council’s kin intention to be an active partner in peace process at this critical moment when fair peace in Yemen is to be established through effective solutions after several failures of all previous talks and consultations. But failure is being repeated again indicating the renewal of more conflicts with holding Sweden Consultations without even touching reality or recognizing the actual situation.

Repeated mistakes and persistence in overcoming just causes, and above all the southern cause, through creating fragile excuses and weak justifications, is not consistent with the correct approach and doesn’t create solid bases for the future to build the desired peace for all parties away from facts and roots of the Yemeni conflict in its correct form and according to its real causes.

The Southern Transitional Council, and the whole Southern People, believe in peace as a correct path for resolving differences. This what we said and did through interaction with all UN-backed efforts in Yemen. We dealt positively with UN envoy to Yemen and avoided all conflicts and confrontations in spite of all provocative acts against the southern people since liberation of the south from Al-Houthi militias. We tried to help in making peace and treating the southern cause through true and actual solutions that fulfill the southern people’s expectations.

Not inviting The Southern Transitional Council as a main and active partner to Sweden Consultations is considered as closing to all windows of these consultations in the face of the rightful southern cause that no one can overcome or ignore as long as it is protected by God and by the free will of the southern people.

Therefore, The Southern Transitional Council asserts the following:

The southern cause is a cause of a homeland, a state and an identity. No solution is to be found for the Yemeni crisis without enforcing the will of the southern people. Overcoming the southern cause is an overcoming for bases, principles and necessities of peace. No peace without the south, just as UN envoy to Yemen asserted during his first Briefing to UN Security Council, after which he was under ressure and blackmail from the legitimacy and Al-Houthis as well.
We denounce and refuse this intentional and illogical absence of the south in peace consultations and confidence building procedures as the base upon which all future processes for peace will be established. Such acts are not consistent with establishing rightful peace. Instead, they are repeated copies of old-fashioned failure acts that led to war through dividing solutions into small pieces and limiting peace between the jaws of two pragmatic parties who caused the war in the first place while the southern cause, the main key to solve Yemeni crisis, is being marginalized.
We express our sorrow that regional and international mediators responded to the blackmail of the legitimacy and Al-Houthis who insisted on the absence of the southern cause and not inviting The Southern Transitional Council to Sweden Consultations, and we hold them responsible for any negative consequences for its failure and setback of Yemeni peace process.
Outcomes of Sweden consultations, and any other consultations, where the southern cause is not represented in through its legitimate representative, The Southern Transitional Council, will not be committing to the southern people. And any solution that limits the rightful expectations of the southern people or falsifies the people’s will will be faced by all means and our options are open to any cost.
Again, we renew the invitation to all active parties in the peace process to pay more respect to the sacrifices of the southern people and to deal positively with our expectations according to international laws and conventions as the southern people have the right to gain their political dues including restoring the southern independent state and self-determination. We call the international society to open investigations in crimes and massacres committed by Sanaa regimen against the southern people since 1994 till now.
We call all patriotic powers on the southern soil to unit and stand together as one line with fully aware will against all tries to force the south back to the same situations before March 20185.
The Southern Transitional Council, according to public delegation from the southern people, has the right to take all suitable measures to face any urgent threats or terrorizing efforts that target the south, the council will protect the southern people’s will and the southern cause.
We assert that we are open to all peace efforts that keep the right of the southern people in fulfilling its expectations and goals represented in restoring the independent state of the south and the people’s sovereignty on national soil. We call all parties to respect the southern people’s will, martyrs and sacrifices and not to obey any arrangements that will regenerate conflicts and return the country to zero square.
