STC Acting President Issues Circular to Prevent Collecting Illegal Taxes on Abyan International Highway

As per the directives of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, and the decree of the STC’s Presidium issued in its meeting held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, to adopt the recommendations of the committee responsibl for going to Abyan Governorate to find out the fact about the illegal fee collection points and the nature of the collecting process that takes place there, the Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly, Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri issued on Thursday evening a circular to all military units, security services and concerned authorities in the local authority in Abyan Governorate, to prevent illegal fee collection (levies) at collecting points of the governorate, and to circulate to all military, and security units and concerned authorities of the local authority in the governorate with strict implementation and full commitment.
The Acting President of the STC called on the concerned authorities to cooperate with the committee and facilitate its tasks related to removing the violating points identified in its report submitted to the Presidium, provided that the committee continues its work in accordance with the decree of the Presidium to follow up to verify the implementation of everyone’s compliance with the directives, hold violators accountable, and evaluate the results, to begin the second stage of overgeneralizing the results to the rest of the governorates.
