STC Acting President Lauds OCHA Efforts in the Capital, Aden, and Nearby Governorates

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, met on Wednesday, Ms. Pauline Njuguna, the OCHA Coordinator for the capital, Aden, and the governorates of Lahj, Abyan, and Al Dhale’a.
During the meeting, which was attended by Lawyer Niran Souqi, head of the Humanitarian Aid and Relief Commission (HARC) of the Presidium of the STC, Mr. Al-Kathiri was briefed by Ms. Pauline on the activities and programs implemented by their office in the capital, Aden, and neighboring governorates to assess the situation and provide humanitarian needs, highlighted partnership and collaboration with proactive organizations operating in various vital sectors, as well as the consistent efforts in providing relief and aid to the displaced persons, improving the living standards of citizens, and contributing to promoting sustainable development.
The meeting touched on the critical importance of a swift humanitarian response to those displaced and affected by Houthi militia attacks on village areas in battlefronts, particularly in the north of Lahj and Al-Dhale’a governorates, focusing on potential solutions and remedies for the ongoing displacement crisis, including efforts to activate voluntary return programs, paying attention to support host society, and seriously addressing the pressing issues of resettling displaced families, unlicensed immigration, and refugee influx amidst the country’s challenging living conditions.
The Acting President of the STC praised the efforts of OCHA and its humanitarian interventions in expediting urgent relief operations. He stressed the importance of coordination and collaboration in the humanitarian field with the Council’s HARC and Organizations Affairs Department in the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Authority (FAEA) in the STC, as well as local authorities in the governorates, to reach the maximum number of eligible beneficiaries and alleviate their suffering.
