STC Acting President Receives Handicap International Delegation

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, received on Sunday, a delegation from Handicap International.
During the meeting, attended by Dr. Najib Qayid Fare’a, Head of the Department of the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Authority (FAEA) at the STC, Mr. Al-Kathiri listened from Ms. Reshma Azmi, the country director of the organization, to a detailed briefing on the medical and therapeutic services provided by the organization during the past period in coordination with a number of local organizations, hospitals and health centers, and the process of collecting data for persons with disabilities, victims of war, mine injuries to provide job opportunities for them in coordination with the Ministry of Health, and to rehabilitate and motivate medical staff, and ongoing awareness of refugees in the camps.
The Acting President of the STC praised the effective role played by the organization within the scope of its work, noting that the current circumstances in the country necessitate expanding its interventions to include other governorates of the South and the areas of Abyan, Shabwa, and Al-Dhale’a governorates in particular, due to the urgent need and severe suffering of civilians in these areas as a result of the Houthi militia’s continued targeting of civilians.
Al-Katiri affirmed the STC’s readiness, through FAEA, the Health and Social Affairs Committees, and civil society organizations within the National Assembly, to facilitate the organization’s work and provide the required support to enable it to fully implement its programs.
