STC Acting President Underscores Necessity for Transparent and Equitable Mechanism in Scholarships Allocation

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, met on Sunday, with Mr. Abdu-Rabboh al-Mahwali, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Technical Education, and Vocational Training.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Mr. Essam Abdo, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly, Mr. Al-Kathiri listened to a comprehensive briefing from Mr. al-Mahwali on the overall state of higher education and academic institutions in the capital, Aden, and the rest of the governorates. In addition to the status of technical education and vocational training, including the progress of educational and training processes in technical and vocational institutes.
In the same context, Al-Kathiri was briefed by al-Mahwali on the mechanisms for allocating both domestic and abroad scholarships. In this regard, he has stressed the necessity to transparently stick to a clear and equitable mechanism to ensure that scholarships have eligibly been obtained in all liberated governorates, neither on zone-based nor partisan considerations.
The acting president of the STC has urged the ministry’s leadership to redouble their efforts to advance academic education and technical and vocational training and to achieve tangible outcomes that can keep pace with the rapid developments in these sectors.
