STC Assembly Lauds Movements of President Al-Zubaidi on Sidelines of Participation in UNGA79

The Administrative Body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its weekly meeting on Wednesday, headed by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly and Acting President of the STC.

Mr. Al-Kathiri launched the meeting with a concise overview of the recent political movement of President Al-Zubaidi on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly (UNGA79) in New York City, highlighted the significance of his excellency’s participation as a pivotal moment in amplifying the voice of cause of the people of the South on the global stage, engaging with international leaders, and opportunities to foster dialogue with global policymakers.

Mr. Al-Kathiri pointed out, during the meeting attended by Mr. Issam Abdo, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly, that the participation of President Al-Zubaidi opens broad horizons for the South and the cause of its people in the highest and most important international organizations in the world and also provides an opportunity to communicate with representatives of international institutions, Southern communities, and immigrants from among the people of the South in the USA.

The administrative body commended President Al-Zubaidi’s movements, which will positively be reflected in strengthening the presence of the just cause of the South and its dedicated leadership in any talks regarding the peace process.

On the field level, the body has stood before the ongoing escalation by Houthi militias north of the governorates of Lahij and Al-Dhale’a, which, as usual, our Southern Armed Forces have decisively been countering and bravely thwarting their attacks on a daily basis.

In the same context, the body has commended the efforts of the STC’s leadership in the process of providing relief and aid for the affected displaced families by Houthi attacks in battlefront areas. The body has called on local and international organizations to take urgent action to meet the immediate needs of displaced families and to contribute to securing their basic necessities.

Furthermore, the administrative body deliberated on a report compiled by the Culture and Tourism Committee for the governorates of the South. The report presented a comprehensive assessment of the current state of the culture and tourism sectors, including a detailed examination of the offices and institutions within these sectors across the South. Moreover, the document outlined a series of challenges and obstacles currently facing both the culture and tourism industries and concluded with a set of recommendations to bolster the cultural identity of the South and enhance its position as a tourist destination.

Likewise, the administrative body has listened to reports from committees tasked by the Assembly’s Chairman to conduct field visits to assess the general condition of Al-Shaab (China) Hospital in the district of Sireh, as well as to compile a final report on the inspection of the investment towers owned by the Social Insurance Corporation in Khor Maksar, in the capital, Aden. Therefore, the committee’s proposals and recommendations regarding these matters will be presented to the relevant authorities.

At the end of its meeting, the body reviewed and approved its previous minutes, touched on a range of issues pertaining to the overall situation in the South, and took the appropriate measures.
