STC Assembly’s Administrative Body Stands Before Environmental and Health Situation in the South

The administrative body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting on Wednesday, headed by Mr. Issam Abdo Ali, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Issam Abdo commended the efforts that have been exerted by the security services to maintain security and stability in the capital, Aden in particular, and the South in general.

The administrative body then turned its attention to the developments related to the abduction of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashaal Al-Jaadani, emphasizing that this case is of all the people of the South. In this context, the body declared its unwavering support for all the measures and decisions issued by the Supreme Security Committee yesterday, Tuesday, regarding the case and those involved in it.

The body reviewed in its meeting a report submitted by the Health and Environment Committee on the health and environmental situation in the South, as the report, supported by statistical data and figures, presented an overview of the current prevailing health status in the South, and the extensive destruction that has befallen this vital sector since 1994.

Similarly, the report focused on the rampant financial and administrative corruption in the inner workings of the Ministry of Health and Population and the absence of its full supervisory and overseeing role over the import of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, which has exacerbated the problem of smuggling, monopolization, and the sale of non-conforming standards and expired medicines.

During the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Nasr Harhara, the rapporteur of the Assembly, a number of remarks, ideas, and suggestions were presented by the members on the report submitted by the Health and Environment Committee, to be included in the final version of the report.

At the end of its meeting, the body discussed a range of developments related to the economic and service conditions in the South, in addition to reviewing and approving the minutes of its previous meeting.
