SMA NEWS – MUKALLA
Brigadier General Saeed Ahmed Al-Muhammadi, head of the local leadership executive body (LLEB) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Hadramaut Governorate, met on Sunday, with a delegation from the European Institute of Peace (EIP), headed by Mr. Jimmy Bleibel, Director of the Institute’s Middle East Program, and Mr. Thanos Petouris, the Institute’s Regional Advisor.
During the meeting, Al-Muhammadi affirmed that the doors of the STC are widely open to dialogue as a sustainable solution to conflicts, aiming to secure the right of the people of the South to self-determination, highlighting the STC’s efforts in combating terrorism and maintaining security and stability in Hadramaut and the rest of the governorates of the South.
In addition to that, the meeting discussed the STC’s commitment to political dialogue as a means of fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the South for self-determination, achieving lasting peace, combating terrorism, and consolidating security and stability in the region.
Furthermore, the meeting touched on the decades-long ordeal endured by the people of the South, marked by repressive and intimidating tactics and being deprived of their civil rights. These actions were aimed at silencing their voices demanding self-determination and the restoration of their national identity, thus contributing to complicating the political, social, and even security landscape in the region.
In turn, the EIP delegation commended the STC’s efforts to achieve stability and combat terrorism, reaffirming the EIP’s commitment to supporting endeavors aimed at promoting peace in the region.
