STC Presidium Extends Congratulations to People of the South on Independence Day and Highlights Commemorating This Glorious Occasion to Renew Pledge of Allegiance to Liberation Cause

The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its weekly meeting on Thursday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly, in the presence of the STC’s ministers in the government and heads of the auxiliary bodies.

In the beginning of its meeting, the Presidium extended its warmest congratulations to the people of the South, both at home and abroad, and to its armed forces, on the glorious occasion of the 57th anniversary of Independence Day on November 30th, and expressed its pride and honor in this momentous occasion, which is dear to our hearts and holds great significance in the history of the unrelenting and long struggles of the people of the South for freedom and independence.

During its meeting, the Presidium highlighted the importance of annual commemorating National Independence Day to reaffirm commitment to the cause of the liberation, reiterating the adherence to national fundamentals and continuing the uncompromising struggle until the full realization of the people’s noble goals, foremost among which is the restoration and building of the independent federal state of the South and achieving a future worthy of the ultimate sacrifices of our blessed martyrs.

Following this, the meeting listened to a verbal briefing from the head of the supervisory committee for field teams on raising political awareness, surveys, and evaluation of the organizational performance of the STC’s bodies, Dr. Nasser Al-Khubbaji, the head of the political commission, assisting the Presidium of the STC. The briefing focused on the committee’s progress in implementing the document outlining the goals and tasks of the field teams, as well as the required steps to complete preparations and commence implementation.

The meeting further included a concise presentation by the head of the political commission on the conducted amendments to the draft of the main general directions and sub-directions of the STC’s work plan for 2025, following the incorporation of remarks and comments from members and heads of committees, in preparation for its official endorsement and approval.

The meeting subsequently turned its attention to the latest developments on the national scene, with a focus on the outcomes of the meeting chaired by the Acting President of the STC with the headship of the unions affiliated with the General Federation of Workers’ Unions of the South (GFWUS) and military and security bodies of the STC, the Supreme Coordination Council for forcibly laid off military, security, and civilian personnel, and civil society organizations with the participation of the STC’s ministers in the government to assess the deteriorating conditions in the country.

In this regard, the Presidium has reiterated its calls on the PLC and the government to take immediate and decisive action to halt the economic decline, urging the implementation of a time-bound matrix to address the crisis and warning of the catastrophic consequences of continued deterioration on the living conditions of citizens.

At the end of its meeting, the Presidium touched on various national developments, assigning relevant authorities with monitoring these issues and submitting in-depth reports at the next meeting, in addition to reviewing the progress of previously issued directives and taking accordingly the appropriate measures.
