STC Secretariat Discusses Practical Partnership with Int’l Organizations to Promote Rights of Women and Children in the South

The Department of Women and Children of the General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), headed by Ms. Yasmeen Musa’ed, Head of the Department, held a meeting on Wednesday, with a number of officials from relevant bodies to discuss ways of practical partnership with international organizations in the field of women and children.
At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Aad Haitham, Head of the Department of Social and Public Affairs at the General Secretariat, Mr. Saleh Mahmoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Ms. Rozin Yassin, Director of the Department of the United Nations Bodies at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, Mr. Aseel Mohammed, a representative of the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Authority at the STC, and the head of the Social Affairs and Women and Children Administrations in the STC of the Capital, Aden.
Ms. Yasmeen elaborated on the department’s ongoing implementation of various programs and initiatives aimed at empowering women, promoting child care, providing them with psychosocial support, and raising their awareness of their rights and duties.
The meeting delved into the challenges faced by women and children in the South, exploring potential avenues for collaboration between the Department of Women and Children and international organizations to bolster the rights of women and children across various domains, and keenness to strengthen partnerships with relevant organizations to foster women’s political and economic empowerment, promote child care, and provide a safe environment for children to showcase their talents and improve their well-being.
The meeting explored several practical approaches to strengthen the department’s partnership with organizations, including organizing regular meetings, pursuing avenues for collaboration, exchanging information and expertise, enhancing capacities, and implementing joint projects. Attendees underscored the importance of fostering cooperation among relevant stakeholders to advance women’s and children’s rights, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to achieve the planned objectives.
It is worth mentioning that the Secretariat is actively seeking to reinforce partnerships with various relevant bodies, including international organizations, to pursue sustainable development across all domains, with a particular focus on the rights of women and children.
