STC Secretary General Discusses the Humanitarian Situation in the South with Representative of UN Coordinative Mission of Humanitarian Aids in Yemen
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Aden – Exclusive[/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″][su_dropcap]A[/su_dropcap]hmed Jamed Lamlas, secretary general of the southern transitional council, along with Fadl Al-Gaadi, assistant secretary general, met representative of the UN coordinative mission of humanitarian aids, Mrs. Suki, and Mr. Masaki Watanabe, deputy director of UN Delegate’s Office for Political Affairs.
Lamlas expressed his pleasure with the meeting that is the second to be held this week asserting the importance of of the coordinative office in supporting the southern people under current conditions.
He also indicated that during the past four years, many humanitarian organizations insist on limiting their efforts to refugees whiles there were citizens in cities like Aden who deserve help.
Lamlas asserted that the humanitarian conditions in the south are very poor, especially in services, as the legitimacy government abandoned their responsibilities towards citizens and abstained from providing southern governorates with fuel, electricity, salaries of security and military personnel in addition to halting work in passports affairs, dialysis centers and others. This increased the suffering of southern citizens.
He added that the council assumed its responsibilities towards these poor conditions and provided fuel for electric power stations during August and September to eliminate the suffering of citizens due to tyranny and oppression in all aspects of life.
Lamlas provided Mrs. Suki with a detailed file about violations of the government and poor services in addition to their reflections upon civilian life. The file was prepared by human rights affairs department of the council.
Dr. Sohair Ali Ahmed, member of the council’s presidency, Jackline Al-Bitani, head of social affairs committee of the southern national assembly, and Aad Mohamed Ali Haitham, head of social affairs committee of the council’s general secretariat, attended the meeting.
