STC’s Foreign Affairs Holds Regularly Scheduled Meeting and Reviews Developments in the Political Process

The General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting in the capital, Aden, chaired by Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, deputy director of GDFA.

During the meeting, which was attended by the heads of departments in the capital, Aden, and virtually all of its representatives abroad, Mr. Al-Sharafi reviewed the latest developments in the comprehensive political process sponsored by the United Nations.

Al-Sharafi touched on the meeting that brought the STC’s delegation together with the office of the UN special envoy in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the aim of finding a comprehensive political settlement that guarantees participation of all in the political process to reach a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace that ends the war and addresses all issues, foremost of which is the cause of the people of the South, through setting a special negotiating framework within the ceasefire agreement in a way that puts an end to the exacerbation of human suffering as a result of the deterioration of the economy and achieves the goals and aspirations of the people of the South.

The meeting reaffirmed that the STC encourages and welcomes all regional and international mediation endeavors and reiterates its support for any solutions that are in line with the principles of international law and meet the demands and aspirations of the people of the South to restore and build their independent state of the South.

The meeting pointed out that all are facing a new political reality that is taking shape and confirmed that the cause of the South has been and is still the key to achieving a comprehensive and sustainable peace, getting out of the quagmire of wars and bloody conflicts, exploiting all capabilities and resources to catch up with construction and development, and serving peoples in the South and Yemen, drawing inspiration from the experiences of brotherly and friendly countries in state building and community development.

The attendees listened to briefings by the Training and Qualifying Department and representatives of GDFA in a number of mandate countries on the results of communication with various diplomatic bodies and actors, developments in the political situation, as well as the activities, programs, and meetings in which they participated and the entrusted tasks by the headship of GDFA.
