STC’s Presidency Demands the Government of a Genuine Remedy to Stop Currency Collapsing

The presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) called on the power-sharing government to quickly stand before reasons led to the sudden collapse in the currency exchange rate against foreign currencies.
The presidency of the STC confirmed, in the regular meeting held on Monday, chaired by the Secretary-General of the STC, Minister of State, Governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, that there are parties behind this unjustified collapse in value of the local currency in the last two days, aimed at thwarting the new leadership and obstructing efforts to revive the economic situation in the country.
The presidency stressed on importance of the government to assume its full responsibilities in developing real and sustainable solutions and treatments to the collapsed economic situation, which would contribute to recovery of the currency exchange rate, restoring the purchasing value, and droping in prices that have burdened the citizens in the South.
The meeting also reviewed the developments of the political situation at the local and regional levels in light of the report submitted by the Decision-Making Support Center, where the presidency stressed the need of work integration for the various bodies in the STC to formulate and boost political visions in line with the political changes emerged from Riyadh Agreement, and the Consultations sponsored by the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the States of the Arab Gulf (GCC) in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in April, to serve the cause of people of the South, and meet their aspirations for independence and restoration of the South State in its full sovereignty.
In the meeting, the presidency also stood before dangerous and organized escalation by terrorist rings in some governorates of the South, behind which stand the parties that have lost their interests to obstruct the political changes resulted from Riyadh consultations, and to thwart unifying efforts in the face of the Houthi militias, expressing condemnation of the terroristic bombing that targeted the gas pipeline in Radhum district, Shabwa governorate, on Sunday evening, calling on the presidential Leadership Council and the government to firmly stand in the face of this organized escalation. In its meeting, the presidency touches on the remaining matters and topics on its agenda and took necessary measures in such regard.
