STC’s Presidency Emphasizes Categorical Rejection of any Forlorn Attempts Targeting Central Bank in the Capital Aden

The presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) has overemphasized its categorical rejection of any forlorn attempts targeting the Central Bank (CB) in the capital Aden; to make suggestions by certain suspicious individuals in the board of the CB aiming of shifting the CB to Sana’a.

The presidency of the STC in the meeting held on Saturday and chaired by Mr. Fadhl Mohammed Al-Gaadi, Deputy of the secretary general, stressed on the emblematic imprtance of the CB as a sovereign institution, and any attempt against the CB, wholly or partly transferring its functions out of the internationally recognized capital, Aden can be considered as a violative attempt against soverienty of the country and legitimacy of the power-sharing government that has been emanated from Riyadh Agreement.

In the meeting, which was attended by several ministers of the STC in the power-sharing government, the presidency has cautioned the suspicious elements in directors of the CB against such movements with some parties abroad, accentuated on closely having an eye on these suspicious movements, and carefully followed-up strings of this conspiracy that has been woven by forlorn attempts to shift the CB to Sanaa, the capital of Houthi militias, by its representative, Mansour Rajeh, who previously headed a Houthi economic delegation to Germany in late 2018.

In a separate context, the presidency has attributed the responsibility on the power-sharing government since it is held responsible for Houthis’ continual control of the telecommunications sector and seizing its revenue, in light of inaction of certain ministers in the power-sharing government, assuring on allowing the so-called Yemeni Omani United Telecommunications Company “YOU” to operate in the liberated governorates of the South is illegal and a major breach that cannot be accepted, calling on the concerned authorities in the power-sharing government and local authorities in the governorates to assume their responsibilities and prevent such mess and absurdness.

In the meeting with the internationally recognized power-sharing government, the presidency of the STC called for assuming its national and legal duty by issuing identity cards (ID cards) from the capital, Aden, as the capital of the State, and bearing the national responsibilities in controlling the economic resources, providing revenues to the central bank in Aden, and working to revive the national economy, control the currency exchange rate, stop the collapsing economic, and provide services to citizens, foremost of which are electricity, education, and health.

To the end of that meeting, the presidency expressed the STC’s rejection of any attempts to revive the pre-2015 institutions, structures and authorities in governorates of the South in one way or another.
