At the beginning of its meeting, the Presidency listened from the Secretary-General, the governor of the capital, Aden, to a precise briefing on the outcomes of his visit to the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, and the agreements signed by the leadership of the local authority in the capital, Aden, to enhance the generating capacity of the electricity sector by 120 megawatts through the establishment of a solar power plant, in addition to an agreement to strengthen the security service with modern monitoring systems with the full support of the official brothers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Presidency attended similar briefings by Major General Salem Abdullah Al-Soqtari, Deputy Secretary-General, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, about the ongoing work in the first phase of the construction of the Hassan Dam in Abyan Governorate and the agreement signed for the rehabilitation and maintenance of 21 water facilities in Shabwa Governorate, funded by the UAE. In addition to the understandings reached by the Ministry with the brothers in the UAE to support the cultivation of coffee in Yafe’a and Al-Dhale’a, the two most fertile agricultural areas for the cultivation of this internationally popular commercial commodity.
The Presidency highly valued the unlimited support of the official brothers in the UAE, leadership and people, for the capital, Aden, and the governorates of the South in service, development, and relief, affirming that this was not uncommon and non-new to the generosity of the leadership and people of the UAE and a true reflection of the great human values established by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, may Allah the Almighty bestow on him His vast mercy.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the briefing provided by Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe’y, deputy head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA) about the First Conference of Southern Journalists and Media Members (FCSJMM) which was held in the capital, Aden, in mid-January 2023, and the significant outcomes achieved by the FCSJMM, foremost of which is the establishment of the Syndicate of the Southern Journalists and Media Members Syndicate (SSJMM).
The Presidency praised the great efforts made by NSMA, the preparatory committee, and its subcommittees to prepare and organize this conference, as well as the important outcomes reached by the SSJMM and the positive echoes that it has achieved both internally and externally, stressing the headship of the elected syndicate to open channels of communication with all journalists and media members who could not participate in the conference, listen to and absorb all voices and opinions, as the entity that embraces all southern journalists, media members, influencers, and opinion makers, regardless of their affiliations and orientations.
The Presidency, too, called on the SSJMM to open channels of communication and coordination with the corresponding entities regionally and internationally and to hold training and qualification courses to raise the capabilities of southern journalists and media members in a way that promotes the presence of the cause of the South at the regional and international levels.
