STC’s Presidency Warns Against Prolonged Stalemate in Economic Collapse

The Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, Vice President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly.

At the beginning of the meeting, Major General Bin Brik delivered a speech on the latest developments in the political process, the tireless endeavors being made by regional and international mediators to end the war and bring peace to Yemen and the entire region, as well as the mandated role of the STC in drawing up the map of the political process through a special negotiating framework for the cause of the South.

The Vice-President of the STC, too, made a briefing of the results of the meetings that he held in the city of Al-Mukalla with the sheikhs, tribal leaders, dignitaries, and notables of a number of tribes of Hadramout governorate and representatives of various segments of Hadrami society who have affirmed their full support for the leadership of the STC and their willingness to make maximum efforts in taking the rights of Hadramout and achieving victory for the cause of the South and the right to restore its state.

After that, the meeting listened to a summary by the Rapporteur of the National Assembly, Mr. Nasr Harhara, on the outcomes of the sixth session of the Assembly, which was held in the city of Al-Mukalla on May 21 and 22, 2023, and the resolutions and recommendations contained in its final statement, in addition to the great momentum that the session received and the visit of President Al-Zubaidi and members of the Presidium of the STC to the governorate of Hadramout.

In this respect, the Presidency praised the positive echoes achieved in the sixth session of the Assembly and the important messages that the session sent to both home and abroad, Hadrami and southern people, and the countries of the region and the world, regarding the shape of the aspired state of the South, its political system, and its relations with the neighboring countries, directing the relevant authorities to act on the decisions that came out of the session and implement its recommendations.

Likewise, the Presidency valued the great popular coalescing of the people of Hadramout around the STC and its political leadership, which was reflected in the historic reception of President Al-Zubaidi upon his arrival in the city of Al-Mukalla by all the various spectrums of the Hadrami people and the warm reception and hospitality enjoyed by the members of the STC’s Presidium and the members of the National Assembly during their stay in the city of Al-Mukalla.

Likewise, the Presidency valued the great popular coalescing of the people of Hadramout around the STC and its political leadership, which was reflected in the historic reception of President Al-Zubaidi upon his arrival in the city of Al-Mukalla by all the various spectrums of the Hadrami people and the warm reception and hospitality enjoyed by the members of the STC’s Presidium and the members of the National Assembly during their stay in the city of Al-Mukalla.

Similarly, the Presidency emphasized that the great popular momentum enjoyed by President Al-Zubaidi’s visit and the convening of the sixth session of the National Assembly in the downtown of Hadramout governorate, the city of Al-Mukalla, thwarted all conspiracies aimed at stripping Hadramout from its South and also reflected that Hadramout has been and will definitely remain the incubator of the STC and a spearhead to achieve the goals of the people of the South, foremost of which is the goal of restoring the state of the South.

Furthermore, the Presidency touched on a range of topics and issues on the national landscape, foremost of which is the economic collapse, and warned against the continued stagnation prevailing in the institutions of the presidency and the government in this deteriorating situation, underscoring that the continuation of this stalemate and the failure to provide any actual solutions will surely lead to the fading and collapse of what remains of the state institutions.

In the context of its handling of miscellaneous items on the local scene, the Presidency stood before the drone shipment, which was seized at the Iron Factory checking point in Lahj governorate on its way to the Houthi militia, stressing the importance of raising security vigilance to detect and thwart terrorist plots against the South and the entire region and the speedy action of the security services to conduct investigations in this case and other cases and work with the prosecution to refer those involved to justice.

To the end of its meeting, the Presidency discussed a range of topics and issues related to the organizational work of the STC and the topics on its agenda for the months of June and July and took the appropriate measures.
