STC’s Presidium Reaffirms Adherence to Hard-Evident Guarantees Enforce Houthi Militias to Truce Provisions Compliancy

The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting, on Saturday, chaired by General Major Ben Brik acting in charge of the STC and the chairman of the National Assembly.

The Presidium began its meeting by reviewing the latest developments on the local and regional landscapes, foremost of which are the efforts made by the international community to extend the UN truce, which ends tomorrow, Sunday, October 2. In this respect, the Presidium has emphasized on getting hard evident guarantees of the Houthi militias’ compliance with the obligations and paradigms of the truce and to cease the frequent breaches; the last of which is the criminal act that claimed the lives of three martyrs and several wounded from our southern armed forces while performing their duty in the Yafe’a axis; in addition to stressing the importance of implementing the previous provisions of the UN-mediated truce as a sine qua non for any subsequent agreements.

In a separate context, the Presidium of the STC, in its meeting which was attended by several ministers of the STC in the power-sharing government, reiterated the importance of enabling the people of Hadhramaut to manage the affairs of their governorate in all the various fields, and their accrued-right to welfare benefits, securing, and protecting their resources from any political interference; in the meantime, the Presidium supported the legitimate demands of the mass movements that came out in the Valley of Hadhramaut to demand the completion of Al-Riyadh Agreement and transferring the Yemeni forces to the confronting fronts with the Houthi militia.

The Presidium, too, expressed its categorical rejection against unilateral appointments in high positions by certain ministers in the power-sharing government, affirming that any non-consensus appointments are considered as nil and void.

In its meeting, the Presidium urged the security services to the necessity of raising the readiness and vigilance, and to be fully prepared to confront hatching conspiracies aiming at disturbing public tranquillity, security and stability in the capital Aden, calling on the commanders of all military and security forces to exert high efforts to consolidate security and stability and thwart all terrorist schemes targeting either the capital, Aden or the South.

To the end of the meeting, the Presidium stood before certain topics and issues on its agenda and took appropriate measures in such regard.
