STC’s Secretariat Organizes Sixth Analytical Forum in Aden the Capital

The Studies and Research Department of the General Secretariat of the Southern Transitional Council’s presidium organized, on Monday, in the capital Aden, the sixth analytical forum on the phenomenon of electronic extortion, concepts, challenges and solutions, under the generous patronage of President Aidaroos bin Qasim Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC).
At the beginning of the forum, the consultant Mariam Al-Afif, Deputy Chairman of the Research Department, delivered a speech, in which she welcomed all participants from various security and community institutions and , prominent women, and explained the importance of the responsibility of community members to limit the spread of extraneous phenomena, following up that cybercrime is a new crime that has emerged with the development of the use of the World Wide Web, calling for joint efforts to reduce such crimes in society.
Brigadier General Fares Abdul-Jabbar Hajeb ,too, delivered a brief overview of the phenomenon of electronic extortion, its concepts, its effects on society, and strategizing on how best to handle the imminent challenges, mentioning the articles and laws that criminalize this act, and the types of penalties for it.
The forum reviewed a papers whose content carried definitions of this phenomenon, its reasons and causes on the ground, and ways to confront it, discussing the main points for its prevention.
Where the participants submit suggestions and ideas that would limit the spread of this phenomenon, and the analytical forum concluded with a range of recommendations that contribute to confronting and limiting the phenomenon of electronic extortion.
